Black Lives Matter: We Need To Do More in Cannabis

Over the past few weeks, the staff and leadership at Santa Cruz Naturals have been experiencing intense emotions in response to recent police violence and the resulting protests. Anger, sadness, guilt, regret, motivation - we’ve been processing and trying to manage all these feelings as a team.

We’ve sifted through our emotions and thought deeply about how we’re showing up for our marginalized community members and victims of systemic racism.

Listening and educating to lead change

We acknowledge that we’ve failed to see, hear, and respond to the challenges faced by black and indigenous people, as well as other people of color. Institutional racism concealed prejudice and inaction have led to these current events.

We no longer want to be part of this paradigm. Instead, we choose to listen, educate ourselves, and create a dialogue that can lead to change.

Standing up to racism

At Santa Cruz Naturals, we need to do more to stand up to systemic racism. For that reason, we’ve chosen to make a significant contribution to the NAACP of Monterey County. This local chapter and its parent organization:

  • Challenge injustice

  • Seek accountability for systems built on inequality

  • Advance solutions for racial justice

We realize that words and donations aren’t enough to drive significant change. Please consider this a first good faith effort—every path to action is different.
